My name is Fabiola Maisonet Cabrera, and I am currently in my third year of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry as a student-athlete at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. Since I was young, I have been passionate about basketball and science—two pursuits that have shaped my discipline, leadership, and ability to work as part of a team. I am currently a member of the university’s women’s basketball team and serve as a mentor for the Organic Chemistry I course for undergraduate students. After completing my bachelor’s degree, my goal is to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry with an emphasis on Organic Synthesis and Biochemistry.
My name is Francis G. Cintrón Cruz, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with an emphasis in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. I recently began conducting research under the mentorship of Dr. Raúl R. Rodríguez Berríos, where I work with azo dyes evaluating their antimicrobial properties. These academic experiences have strengthened my discipline and my interest in the sciences, motivating me to continue working toward my goal of studying medicine.
My name is Pedro André Alemán Rivera, and I am in my fourth year pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus. My research focuses on the synthesis of organic molecules with biological activity, such as ferrocene derivatives incorporating azo dye components. After graduating, I would like to pursue a master’s degree in cosmetic chemistry, as it has always been one of my greatest interests. My favorite hobby is going to the beach and watching the sunset with my friends and family.
My name is Andrea S. Rosario Román, and I am currently in my third year pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. I am a student researcher in the CEROC Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Raúl Rodríguez Berríos. My project focuses on the synthesis of new ferrocene-derived compounds with potential biological properties. I consider myself a person who is focused on my studies, with the goal of attending medical school. As hobbies, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, playing sports, watching movies and series, and listening to music.
My name is Daliana M. Agosto Disdier, and I am a fourth-year Chemistry student. I have been a member of the CEROC Lab since 2024, where my research project focuses on the synthesis of ferrocene-derived imines. Additionally, I have designed and served as a mentor for new laboratory experiences in Organic Chemistry courses. Through my research, I have developed my skills in organic techniques and electrochemical characterization of compounds. During my time in the lab, I have gained valuable experience aimed at helping me in my future career as a pharmacist. Outside of the university, I enjoy listening to music, dancing, and walking in nature.
My name is Rocío Jiménez Rodríguez, and I am a fourth-year Biology student. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching series, and spending time with my friends and family. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I have balanced academics while working part-time. I am a member of SACNAS and the Natural Sciences Honor Roll, as I have always made my studies a priority. During my university years, I have had the opportunity to gain hands-on laboratory experience, which has contributed to my academic growth and strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in medicine after completing my bachelor’s degree.
