What you need
- A functioning bike
- It does not have to be nice and you don't need to buy a brand new one. It just needs to be safe and sturdy.
- It is a good idea to get your bike tuned up every once in a while to make sure it is a well oiled machine.
2. A Helmet
- You MUST MUST MUST have a helmet. If you don't we won't allow you to ride with us, if you have a leg over your bike you need to have a helmet on.
3. A Water bottle or hydration pack: It is very important to stay hydrated so always bring water.
You won't need these at first but if you really get into mountain biking consider:
- Chamois (padded biking pants) might be a good idea if you plan on riding a lot. They look ridiculous but you won't be the only one wearing them to practice so don't worry, if you see one of your friends while we are practicing you won't look like the only goofball there.
- Biking jersey: Although any old T-Shirt will do, a jersey is designed for biking. It has back pockets where you can keep snacks or your phone, and it has an extended back so you don't get that annoying line of skin showing between your pants and shirt because you are bending over, etc.
- Biking gloves: These are good later in the season when in gets colder but even in the summer they have a lot of benefits. They keep your sweaty hands from slipping off your handle bars and protect your hands from thorns or trees or whatever you happen to run into/fall onto.
