What is the PLAY Library Card Program?
The PINES Library Card Access for Youth (PLAY) program gives students free access to public library materials and online resources to help them succeed in school. Middle Georgia Regional Library (MGRL) partners with local public schools to provide the PLAY program. Currently, the program is only available to Baldwin County, Macon-Bibb County, Jones County, Macon County, Twiggs County, and Wilkinson County public school students.
What are the benefits of the PLAY Library Card Program?
The public library provides free access to books and online resources to help your child succeed in school, as well as fun resources that help develop a lifelong love of reading. Your public library is available all year long, with access to computers and laptops available for checkout, internet access, research assistance, teen leadership programs, and volunteer activities.

What is PINES?
Georgia Library PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is the public library automation and lending network for 300 libraries and affiliated service outlets in 52 library systems serving 146 counties in Georgia.
How do I get started?
1. Visit your local library and a library assistant will help you.
2. When asked for your library card number, use your 3-letter school ID code followed by your student ID number.
EXAMPLE: You are a student in the Bibb County School District and your lunch number is 12345. Type BIB12345
3. Online, when asked for your password, type your 2-digit birth month and 4-digit birth year with no spaces.
EXAMPLE: Your birthday is August 1, 2005. Type 082005.

How much does the PLAY Card Program cost?
The account is free and library resources and services are free.
What about overdue fines and fees?
There are no overdue fines, but users are responsible for fees on lost or damaged items.
What schools are included?
MGRL currently partners with the Baldwin County School District, Bibb County School District, Jones County School District, Macon County School System, Twiggs County School System, and Wilkinson County School District. Other school systems in Crawford and Wilkinson counties may be added in the future.
Where is my closest library location?
Middle Georgia Regional Library is a seven-county library system with 17 outlets. The headquarters are located in Macon, Georgia. View our locations at bibblib.org.
What are the library’s hours?
Hours vary by location. See bibblib.org for current hours.
Am I limited to only using libraries in Middle Georgia?
You can visit any MGRL library location or any of the 300 PINES partner libraries across the state.
What if I want my child to have full access to the library collections?
The PLAY account allows children to borrow five items at a time and have full access to online resources. If you want your child to borrow more items, you can apply for a free Middle Georgia Regional Library System PINES library card at any time. Visit your local library and bring your photo ID.
What if my child already has a library card?
You can continue using the existing library card. Your PLAY account is separate.
What happens when a child changes schools?
Children maintain the same PLAY account until they move outside of the school system or graduate.
What happens when my child graduates?
The PLAY account will remain active until October 15 of the graduation year.
What about homeschooled children?
The PLAY Card Program is currently for public school students. A child can apply online for a library account for digital access only.

Will parents/caregivers have access to see what their child has checked out?
Parents/caregivers will have the ability to see what is checked out on the account of a minor.
Is the information shared with the library confidential?
Yes, per Official Code of Georgia § 21-12-30(a) Confidential Nature of Certain Library Records.
What if I do not want my child to participate?
You may choose to opt out of the program by contacting your child’s school.
