We will provide lodging for all participants at Adams Hall, a dormitory at Ohio University located just a two‑minute walk from the Living‑Learning Center (LLC), where all lectures will take place.
Both check-in and check-out will take place in the Adams Hall lobby, where you'll find a registration window. There, you'll receive your dorm keys and an information packet.
Check-in: Monday, May 12, 2025 @ 5 pm – 7 pm
Check-out: Sunday, May 18, 2025 @10 am – 12 pm
If you arrive before 5 pm on May 12 and need a place to store your bags, please email us at cenamschool@ohio.edu or find Jane Kim in Room 269 of Clippinger Laboratories. If you expect to arrive after 7 pm, let us know in advance so we can arrange for you to receive your dorm keys.
To request a daily or overnight parking pass, contact the INPP Account Manager Rudina Woltz at rwoltz@ohio.edu. She will send you a link to purchase your pass online. If you are arriving from outside Ohio University, be sure to save your receipt for reimbursement by IReNA.
A map of campus parking lots can be found here. On the linked map, the LLC is building #76 and Adams Hall is building #81. You are allowed to park in any purple and dark green lot. Lot #93 will likely be your most convenient option.
Many of the local restaurants in Athens are located in the yellow‑highlighted regions on the map below. Those along Court Street and Union Street (within a 20‑minute walk of the LLC, marked by the red pin) offer convenient dining options. Local coffee shops are marked by blue pins.
Light breakfasts, coffee, and snacks will be available at the LLC throughout the summer school. On Wednesday evening, we will have a catered group dinner at Jackie O's Taproom. On Saturday, during our outdoor research and career‑day activities, we’ll serve pizza from Athens’s local Avalance Pizza.
For participants traveling from outside Ohio University, IReNA will provide a per diem from Monday through Saturday, excluding the provided meals. Ohio University students will receive a per diem for lunch from Tuesday through Friday, courtesy of the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPP).
For participants driving to Athens, it's accessible via US-33, I-70, or I-71. If you have a car, you'll also be able to visit the scenic Hocking Hills State Park, which is about a 45-minute drive from Athens.
If you can reach Columbus, OH by bus or train, you can also reach Athens by the GoBus. There are typically four buses with the final destination on the Ohio University Campus, at Baker University Center (yellow pin above), just a 10-minute walk to the summer school venue (red pin above).
For participants arriving by air, we recommend flying into John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). From there, you can reach Athens by rental car, GoBus, or Uber/Lyft. If you choose the GoBus, there are typically three buses daily that travel between CMH and Ohio University. Please note that Uber does not operate within Athens, so plan accordingly when returning to the airport.
If you are traveling internationally, you will probably need a Visa. Depending on your country of origin, you may be eligible for the Visa Waiver Program. See the links below for more information.
