Lectures
Each lecture slot is 45 minutes. Prepare about 35-40 minutes of material, leaving 5-10 minutes for questions.
Encourage student interaction by allowing questions throughout the lecture.
Aim for a broad and general perspective to provide context for the upcoming conference. A brief section on your own research is fine but should not be the main focus. A more extended discussion on your own research is better suited for a hands-on activity.
Use clear and accessible explanations, as the audience may have diverse backgrounds.
If possible, include visuals, examples, or intuitive explanations to enhance understanding.
Upload your slides to the shared Google Drive to coordinate topics with the other lecturers.
Hands-on Activities
Students can work individually or in groups on guided projects.
The format is flexible and can be adapted to different styles and areas of expertise.
Activities can be closely related to your own research if you prefer.
Ideally, activities should introduce a commonly used method, tool, or concept that will help students engage with topics at the conference.
If your activity involves running code:
Share it in a GitHub repository.
Email cenamschool@ohio.edu with the link and any necessary documentation on dependencies.
Ensure the code is well-documented so students can use it effectively.
Other hands-on formats, such as problem-solving exercises, interactive discussions, or conceptual explorations, are welcome and encouraged—feel free to be creative!
If a short introductory presentation would help set up the activity, you are welcome to include one. This would be separate from your main lecture.
