Can Membrane tension and fluctuations affect membrane fusion during myogenesis?
Now online: Chakraborty M, Sivan A, Biswas A and Sinha B (2022) Early tension regulation coupled to surface myomerger is necessary for the primary fusion of C2C12 myoblasts. Front. Physiol. 13:976715. doi: 10.3389/fphys.2022.976715
Collective cell migration : is the role of membrane tension same as single cell motility? are there cell -to- cell differences?
While finding about that, we found that collective cell migration in fish keratocytes has an unique cell-substrate adhesion profile. Some cells following the leader cells actually "take a ride" - they give away their adhesion with the substrate and in turn help the leader be more "directional". How does the thin (~500nm) actin cortex respond to mechanical perturbations? We study role cell spread area in controlling cortex thickness and find Traction forces to be very important. Rinku's Preprint: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2017/10/18/205138

>More coming soon. We will talk about how membrane-cytoskeleton linkages matter!
Excess membrane just after de-adhesion - how do fluctuations "flow"? How does the tension profile evolve? Is the set point of tension altered when a cell is restricted to smaller spread area (hence thicker actin cortex)?
>Soon.. we will get back with updates
Are there special regions on the plasma membrane where membrane trafficking is more prone to happen?
> Tithi thinks so. But let's be super sure and we get back with something for you to read.
