Being an ISL student is one of the biggest privileges in my life. I have learned countless things throughout these four years. The ISL helped me significantly improve my English, learn how to be a better educator, and it made me become passionate about research. Furthermore, I have met wonderful people there. I have such amazing and admirable classmates, and unique and wonderful professors who have become my role models.
Translation and Interpretation
Besides learning how to be a better teacher, the ISL also provided me with interpretation and translation skills.
In 2019, I traveled to Panamá to work as an interpreter (English-Spanish) for one of the John Maxwell's coaches. I have also interpreted for other coaches in schools in the countryside of Paraguay where we implemented the program called "Yo Lidero" from John Maxwell.
In 2021, I became a certified translator at the Supreme Court of Justice. I have been working with different people since then, translating their documents to English or Spanish.
Projects
Sign Language
In 2021, we had a project on sign language for our Practice Teaching I class. Since then, I really love this system of communication, and I have been taking courses to learn more about it!

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Celina. En 2021, fui a Estados Unidos por un semestre (desde Agosto hasta Diciembre). Allí practiqué inglés e hice nuevos amigos. Vi y recorrí lugares nuevos.
Fin.
Gracias.
Throughout the second semester, we worked on a collaborative comparative education project with students from the University of Texas at Dallas. We compared the Paraguayan curriculum to the U.S. one. I learned so many new things about the U.S. educational system and I made new friends!
This year, I presented the research proposal for my thesis at CONPLA. My research project is about Translanguaging between English and Spanish and Positive Identities in the Spanish as a Second Language Classroom at a Private School in Asunción. I am planning to present the results in 2023.
Practice Teaching II assignments
These are some of the most meaningful assignments I was requested to complete for my Practice Teaching II class. By observing classes, I was able to learn new teaching techniques and methods that I am already applying in my own classes. Having been observed also helped me learn much more about my own teaching and made me realize some aspects I can improve. Finally, thoughtfully planning different the lessons helped me become a more reflective teacher.
