Who:
The community partner that I will be working with is BRITE YOUTH.
I would like to be identified to the public as Celestine.
The role of my collaborators is to educate me on their interactive world, inform me on the goals they would like me to reach. They are allowing me creative control in my videos, and just ask them to see it beforehand. Since I am working alone, I will be making all of the decisions when it comes to exercises and choreography. I will be the only one in the video, so I can decide what I am doing, wearing, and when I need to record.
The support that I would need from my capstone students, is to participate and try the exercises for themselves. I am aware that most do not have a dance background, but the point is to try new activities to get them active. I plan on having them follow along in some activities, and others will be for them to read and try on their own.
I have partnered with Katherine Kasmir, Victoria Sayeg, and Sammie Cade on some possible ideas. They are open to me being creative and bringing new ideas to the interactive world.
What:
I have had three Zoom meetings, and will continue to have them with Katherine, Victoria, and Sammie. On March 16, I will be leading a wellness exercise at the BRITE World “happy-ness” night. This will allow me to get familiar with the students, and build my confidence up. They do not have any hard deadlines, and would like to put my finished work up when they are done. I have my own deadlines of filming and editing my dance videos by the end of the March. I would like to have everything up and running for their April wellness night. They do not have a date for that night at the moment. I have a goal of creating a dance exercise that students at any level can try, that is based on sitting in their seat. I will also create a yoga, meditation video, and a dance warm up video that can be done in a small space. I am allowed to add healthy links, recipes, and any information that students can interact and read.
The order I have, is to create the routines and narrow in on the information I want to have. I will lead the Wellness Night exercise, film my videos, edit, and then send them to Katherine for review.
When:
The days that have been set are March 16 at 6 pm for the wellness exercise I am leading.
My final videos do not have a set date that they are due because they would like the videos to go live when they are completed. I have a goal of completing the videos by April, so they can be live for their April wellness night that does not have a set date yet. My main goal is to have everything done before the deadline for class.
Where:
Everything that I record will be done in my house, in my living room and in my bedroom. The videos will be online, and can be accessed in the BRIGHT World website.
Why:
The needs of the community partner are being met, by staying in communication through email and Zoom. They have given me their goals for what they would like, and they are setting me up with a workshop, so I have access to the virtual world. The goal is for me to decorate, and lay out the videos and info within BRITE World.
These needs are being met, by attending the meetings, familiarizing myself with the website, and making sure that I am considering that my audience are not all dancers.
How:
The goals that I have range for each video and information I plan on uploading. My goal for the dance exercise on the chair, is to let students know you do not have to run around a stage to be active. Since some may be intimidated by dancing, having the comfort of sitting in a chair can help them ease in. The goal for the yoga video, is to help students who may not want to dance, and give students the opportunity to try yoga. The dance warm up exercise again allows students to be active, try dance exercises, and given them another perspective of dance.
Before any of the videos go live, I will need to have them uploaded and would love fellow classmates to try them to see how they do with an audience.
