Grass fed cattle that our rotated among different pastures have greater Omega -3 benefits. They also are leaner and have less fat than traditionally raised cattle. Vitamins A, D & E are also increased in grass fed beef.
I never use antibiotics for routine use or maintenance. The only time they would be used is for a limited medical use, and we didn't use any this year for any reason!! Hormones are used to increase weight more quickly but I would rather have my cattle gain weight naturally!
This is one of the most important, yet time consuming parts of grass finished beef. We have many pastures that we rotate the cattle through during the year. Some pastures for a few days (our prized remnant piece), some for a week during the spring flush of grass, some for a week during the hot days of summer, some for the new alfalfa growing for vitamins and health, &sometimes in the native pasture during the Fall. I love to check the cattle while I move them and watch them for their growth & health.
