This month students will explore narrative non fiction and learn all about how some of our favorite tasty treats have come to be. We will be celebrating food glorious food and learning how everything thing, and everyone has a story behind it. Stories connect us, stories give us a sense of belonging.
We have begun research strategies and pathways through my weekly "First Job". Students will use iPads to use our school databases (PebbleGo, True Flix, and CultureGrams) as well as many other helpful online resources to help them safely search the web. I will show them how to use Dictionary Online, Safesearch Kids, and National Geographic for Kids. The first job is intended to be a quick way to practice safe online research habits. You can find the complete list of safe research sites on my symbaloo (also available on my website and Clever page).
I will also introduce the five kinds of nonfiction to my third-grade crew. We are focusing on narrative nonfiction. Check out this ebook I made using Book Creator! Remember, this app has been purchased by the district and is ready to go in Clever!
We will end the month with a spooky read!
