CECAM conducts 2nd Intensive Joint Field Survey

With recognition to the pronounced and dynamic seasonal interaction of the physical, chemical and biological variables under changing atmospheric conditions for tropical ecosystems, CECAM conducted the second intensive joint field survey last February 24-March 17, 2011. As before, CECAM Japanese side members visited the country and collaborated with Philippine side members for joint field work at different CECAM study sites. Field measurements were done at the Bolinao Reef Complex and Lingayen Gulf in Pangasinan, Guimaras Strait and surrounding coastal zones in Western Visayas, and Naawan coastal waters in Mindanao.

The goal of the field campaign mainly was to gather ecosystem information based on the general objectives of the September 2010 survey representative of the tropical dry season. Activities during the field survey were basically similar for this reason.

As before, equipment were brought from Japan for in-situ hydrodynamic and water quality measurement and processing.
