Choice Engineering Competition

Choice architecture uses qualitative psychological principles in choice design. The recent development of quantitative models of choice can revolutionize this discipline. To launch this field, which we term choice engineering, we initiate a large-scale competition in which the effectiveness of qualitative principles and quantitative models will be compared.

See the competition announcement in Nature Communications.

Updates

  • Extension in submission deadline- Submission to the competition will be open until 31.12.2019, 23:59 (PST).
  • 15/9/2019 - Bug fixes - a. Due to a bug in the experiment code, for some subjects, the last (100th) trial was not recorded in the data. b. In some instances, the reward of a specific trial remained on the screen for the next trial. Both bugs are fixed with this update. The updated code in which these issues are resolved is found in the experiment's repository. Thanks for Amir Dezfouli for his assistance in identifying these bugs.
  1. 15/9/2019 - Additional behavioral data with responses to random sequences (see detailed description here) was added with this update.
  • 21.7.2019 - We updated the experiment code which handles the dynamic reward allocation, here. Thanks to Amir Dezfouli for identifying this issue.
    • The update fixed a bug by which allocation at trial t was implemented with the knowledge of the choice at trial t. The present, fixed, version calls the allocation function at trial t with the information of choices and rewards in trials 1...t-1.
  • 2.9.2019 - Note that due to a bug , the last trial (trial 100) is missing in some of the published data.
