I started my teaching career in 2015 after graduating from Augustana College. I taught at the high school level for two years before moving to 6th grade where I taught for three years in the western suburbs. As a Language Arts teacher, my main goal is to spark a love for reading in my students, help my students gain confidence in their literacy abilities, and to give my students the tools to be successful readers.
I am currently a middle school reading specialist in the western suburbs and specialize with struggling readers and students who need additional support in their learning and development.
My teaching career began in 2015 after graduating from Augustana College. For my first six year of teaching worked in a social studies classroom with 7th grade middle school students in the western suburbs with a wide range of social, emotional, and academic needs. At my school I have co taught with special education teachers and speech pathologists and have experience differentiating my instruction and accommodating content to make learning accessible for all students.
I am currently a reading specialist and help students develop their literacy skills. Literate citizens are a corner stone of a democratic society and I have spent my career promoting literacy in my classroom. The core of my philosophy is that when a teacher can spark curiosity every student can be the creators of their own learning.
