Thematic Focus
CDI works for the empowerment, rights, and dignity of women specifically the rural women and the most vulnerable and marginalized sections. CDI partners work for and with domestic workers, migrant workers, rural women, women with HIV / AIDs, drug addicts, widows, old and destitute, economically backward, and discriminated against.
CDI works with children in difficult situations, children on the street, children in domestic work, child labourers, orphans, trafficked minors, school dropouts, children with HIV/AIDs, children who are victims of conflict and violence, and children with disabilities. CDI strives to secure the rights of these children and protect them. CDI creates a child-friendly and enabling environment through the formation of child clubs and children’s parliaments.
CDI encourages women groups to get involved in micro credit system and work towards entrepreneurship development to become sustained and self- reliant. These activities promote the economically weak to improve their livelihood and development of the families.
The young occupies and prominent place in the heart of the CDI partners. Skill development through vocational trainings are carried out in many of the centres to prevent human trafficking and promote the safe migration of women and young girls. CDI undertakes tailoring and general housekeeping courses for school dropout girls from rural areas and potential domestic workers and migrants.
Primary health care centres are set up in village areas. The nurse sisters carry out healing ministry and promote the health of women and children. They also educate them to prevent diseases through community-based programs and through networking with government health centres.
CDI works for climate change adaptation and livelihood promotion by caring environment and preservation of natural resources, campaigning for a green India, and promoting a plastic-free environment. It also focuses on improving the economic conditions of rural women and young girls.
