DoD Instruction (DoDI) 6060.02 - Child Development Programs

The Department of Defense instruction (DoDi) 6060.02 updates established policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures for providing care to minor children (birth through age 12 years) of individuals who are eligible for care in DoD CDPs.

OPNAV 1700

This instruction implements policy, assigns responsibilities, incorporates changes in organizational responsibility, and prescribes procedures for the operation of Child and Youth Programs (CYP) on naval installations and in government housing to ensure a healthy, safe environment, and promote quality programs. 1700.9e OPNAV Change transmittal 1 revises pages 9 through 11, Chapter 4, Chapter 9 and adds additional pages throughout instruction. The purpose is to update Child and Youth Program policy on the inclusion of children with and without disabilities and other special needs (chapter 4) and provide guidance on caring for children with chronic health conditions and the administration of medications (Chapter 19).

Operating Manual Standard

Child Development Homes (CDH) programs depend on effective enrollment and record keeping procedures, strong administration oversight, and accurate file maintenance. The Enrollment and Record Keeping (ERK) Standard--CDH provide guidance for enrollment and record keeping, including scanning requirements for those CDH programs with authorized scanning capabilities, for records for children, families, and CYP Professionals. Navy regulation concerning safety states cleaning substances shall be stored out of reach of children. Medication shall be stored out of sight and inaccessible to children. The medication shall be stored away from food and at proper temperature. Medication containers shall include child resistant caps. Use this regulation to answer the following questions:

A Navy regulation concerning APPROVED SUBSITUTE PROVIDER states she/he must be military dependent 18 years of age or older, certified in CPR and First Aid, has completed the two (2) hours training course in Child Abuse Neglect and local background checks, and is approved to provide substitute care in a certified CDH provider's home. Certified CDH providers may also serve as approved substitute providers. Use this regulation to answer the following questions:
