Eligibility
Applicants must not have obtained a PhD degree. Undergraduate students (junior year or above), master’s and doctoral students, as well as recent graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree are all eligible to apply. Please note that applicants holding passports from China, Hong Kong, or Macau are not eligible.
Application Requirements
You will need to prepare the following documents:
Online application form
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Official academic transcripts
Letter of recommendation
Proof of English proficiency
Research plan
Copy of passport
ID-format headshot photo
No.
The online form is only one part of the application process. You must submit all required documents as a single compressed file (e.g., ZIP file) to coleng_dia@ccu.edu.tw before the deadline. In other words, both the online application form and the documents are required.
After we receive your application, our office will send a confirmation email. Your application is considered complete only after you receive this confirmation. Applications with missing forms or documents will be treated as incomplete.
The online application form can’t be edited after submitting. Please complete and submit a new application form with the correct information.
You may submit your application without a passport copy initially. However, if you are admitted to the program, you must provide your passport information as soon as possible. Without it, we will not be able to apply for the official approval documents from the Ministry of Education.
Supporting Documents
There is no strict requirement for a specific English test. If you do not have TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC scores, other English proficiency certificates issued by your school or country are also acceptable.
At least one recommendation letter is recommended, but there is no required format. You may still apply without a recommendation letter; however, having one can strengthen your application.
There is no fixed format for the research plan. You may write it based on your research interests and goals during your internship at CCU. You can submit one general research plan or prepare separate plans for each internship topic you are applying for.
Scholarship & Funding
Not necessarily. There are two types of internship positions: funded (with scholarship) and self-funded. Self-funded interns are responsible for their own accommodation, living expenses, and airfare. Your admission letter will clearly state whether you are offered a scholarship or a self-funded position.
The scholarship is calculated based on a 30-day month and is prorated according to the actual number of internship days. For example, for an 83-day internship (approximately 12 weeks), the total scholarship would be calculated as:
NT$12,000 ÷ 30 × 83 = NT$33,200.
No.
The scholarship package already includes accommodation on campus, a monthly living allowance, and a partial airfare subsidy.
The accommodation fee will be deducted during the first week of your internship. The living allowance is provided monthly. The remaining amount is considered the airfare subsidy and will be issued during the final week of the internship.
However, some laboratories may provide the full scholarship amount on a monthly basis instead of distributing it by category and schedule. Please follow the actual payment arrangement of your assigned laboratory.
Visa & Arrival
CCU will submit the list of accepted interns to Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and provide you with the official approval letter and an internship invitation letter. However, you must apply for your visa on your own at the nearest Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO). In addition to the documents provided by CCU, you may need to prepare other documents depending on the requirements of the office.
No.
Since interns arrive at different times, we do not arrange airport pick-up services. Before your arrival, you will receive an internship handbook that includes transportation information. Please review it carefully and arrange your own transportation.
