iTunes

Apple's excellent app handle podcasts well on Apple computers, iPhones and iPod, and is very popular with podcast suppliers. But it lacks speed control and has limited skip control.

I show Unplayed/My Episodes/Saved, which still shows some played episodes. Check again after 24 hours.

Android

I have tried a lot of dedicated podcast apps, including my current favourite: Podcast Republic. Free with ads (remove for £2.79). Settings per podcast enable:

• Auto download (5 most recent on Learn French with daily podcasts)
• Sorting (I prefer Oldest first)
• Skip beginning/ending (55 secs on Learn French with daily podcasts )
• Playback speed (1.5x on Intermediate French Podcast).

My Spanish podcasts are on my Nexus 5 (Android 6.0.1).

My French podcasts are on my Samsung S2 tablet.

I normally view Unplayed episodes, but occasionally view Downloaded to delete played episodes. You can swipe (left) to delete each download or select all (or some) then choose Delete Download. I am experimenting with settings to auto delete, by setting Keep latest downloads (to 10 on No es un día cualquiera, but 12 still in Downloaded). May start counting after making this setting.

French

French Voices Podcast used to include free transcripts, and I now listen less often. I listen to the odd episode on iTunes.

Intermediate French Podcast Interesting fortnightly half-hour episodes, which I play at 1.5x speed in Podcast Republic.

Learn French by Podcast seems to have stalled in July 2018. May be worth listening to selected episodes on iTunes.

One Thing In A French Day 3 5-minute episodes a week. Auto Download 3, Keep Downloads 9, Skip beginning/ending 30 seconds in Podcast Republic.

Spanish

LightSpeed Spanish I subscribe on YouTube and watch the latest Diario de Gordon. I also make a summary with links to all his diaries.

No es un día cualquiera I download Primera hora (with Despertador clásico on Sunday), Verba volant (Latinista Tuitero) each weekend to listen in the gym.

Notes in Spanish Conversations Ben & Marina's current podcasts (usually weekly).

Se Habla Español 2-3 minute interviews with famous people followed by clarification and comments. Usually preceded by 6-7 minutes selling and thanking before the introduction to the interview. I have added the start times of the intro and the interview on my summary. PDF transcriptions can be downloaded from QuinceTC.

Spanish Podcasts Weekly 30 minute episodes with transcripts on line or Guías escritas PDFs.

Spanish as a Second Language (ssl4you) Fortnightly shortish talks with free transcripts and translation, followed by audio only expansion in Spanish. My summary includes links and interesting vocabulary.

(Habla español con) Unlimited Spanish Weekly 12-13 minute podcasts, first half text audio then Q&A. I prefer at 1.2x speed. I have set as Played all episodes before 2019, while I evaluate this year's texts.
