IMO Condemns Tanker Attack Near Strait Of Hormuz As Maritime Security Concerns Intensify
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has strongly condemned an attack on the tanker MT Settebello off the coast of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz, raising fresh concerns over maritime security in one of the world’s most critical shipping corridors. The vessel, sailing under the flag of Palau, reportedly came under a projectile strike, resulting in a fire on board. Three seafarers are currently reported missing, according to the IMO statement issued on June 10, 2026.

This initiative aims to promote the use of biomass—organic material derived from forestry waste, agricultural residues, and municipal solid waste—as a sustainable energy source. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has updated financial incentives under the National Bioenergy Programme.
