Climate change, in recent decades, has significantly affected the natural and human systems in all continents and across the oceans. Unprecedented climate-related extremes, such as heat waves, droughts, floods, cyclones, wildfires, shifts in climate zones and seasonality, and increase in sea level and temperature, have been reported from many parts of the globe. As these ill effects intensify, they will increasingly cause cascading impacts in coming decades which include alteration of ecosystems, disruption of food production and water supply, damage to infrastructure and settlements, morbidity and mortality, and consequences for human health and well-being.

In order to deliberate on the above issues, an International Conference on “Climate Change Impacts, Vulnerabilities, and Adaptation: Emphasis on India and Neighbourhood (CCIVA 2019)”, will be hosted at the Centre for Oceans, Rivers, Atmosphere and Land Sciences (CORAL), Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP), West Bengal, India, from 26 February to 02 March, 2019. It is expected that the researchers in this scientific gathering will, apart from discussing their research findings and experience, help in finding appropriate, cost-effective solutions to problems from climate change, and identify possible adaptation and mitigation options.
