100+ SIGCSE TS 2026 attendees talked to the CEIR Ducks about AI in CS Education. We view it as an asset rather than fear it as other faculty do.
The CEIR TEACHING CoLab Goals include:
Community Building: Foster a sense of community and collegiality, and facilitate collaboration among faculty
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL): Enhance faculty's application of high impact teaching practices in CCI courses and connect to CS education research
Collaborative Leadership Development: Facilitate opportunities for faculty members to enhance their collaborative leadership skills
Assessment and Dissemination: Shared outcomes through reports, presentations, and publications, and other options (e.g. ACE-IT! Modules)
CoLab cohorts are recruited and identified based on topical interests. Cohorts work in a group with multiple individuals who can provide support and expertise across the topical focus. For example, a topical area can be a specific high impact teaching strategy, such as equitable grading or active learning techniques for online classes, or universal design in hybrid classes, or a student challenge strategy, such as learning coding with or without AI. Ideal group size would be 3-6 faculty members. Form your own cohort or request a cohort for CEIR to form.
What CoLabs Do:
Spring: CoLab groups meet bi-monthly Jan-May, facilitated by the Fellow
investigate/explore their topic, this may include getting external expertise
Establish deliverable(s) for the CCI [e.g. an ACE-IT! module update, a workshop, poster at CCI's Summer Education Showcase, etc.)
Summer: finalize the products to be showcased for CCI and elsewhere
Fall - CEIR showcases the deliverables as workshops and seminars, CCI certificate
Fellows facilitate the cohort, and receive summer stipend support.
