Congratulations to all students who participated in the 2021 Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair! We hope students enjoyed the virtual experience and opportunity to highlight individual ingenuity and creativity used in projects during yesterday’s judging process.

We commend all fair participants for pursuing STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) while overcoming the challenges of the pandemic. You should be proud of your accomplishments! Not all students who apply to our fair make it through the rigorous process, and not all who complete the process, follow through to the end. Again, congratulations!

The Science Fair is pleased to be able to showcase your talents in our new Awards webpage. The 2021 awards for the fair have been posted today and may be viewed here:

Highlighted are student placement awards (first through fourth place); Best of Fair signified by a sweepstakes ribbon offering the opportunity for further competitive events including Broadcom MASTERS National Science Fair (grades 7-8) and International Science & Engineering Fair (grades 9-12). A certificate icon indicates one or more special awards were conferred on the project.

We will post a complete list of the projects and specific awards on this website in a few days. Please keep checking the webpage for detailed list.

The Contra Costa Science Fair would not be possible without the support of our sponsors: Chevron, Bio-Rad Laboratories, Corteva, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Henkel Aerospace, Contra Costa County Water and Waste Water Agencies, Mt. Diablo Amateur Radio Club, and more. Countless volunteer hours were also donated by our long-term volunteers including 86 industry judges—all dedicated to bringing this opportunity to the children of Contra Costa! To all, we are forever grateful.

At the conclusion of last night’s judging, one judge comment reflects what all of us feel about the opportunity to provide such an experience to Contra Costa’s budding young scientists and engineers, “The future is in good hands.”
