Lupita Jiménez is an ESL, first-generation, DACAmented, Latina graduate from Mt. San Antonio College, UCLA and CSULB. She is also a former CCCP SITE Plus Scholar and Peer Mentor. Her greatest passion is facilitating the educational attainment of historically underrepresented students through transfer as a pathway to equity in education.
She has been an educator serving in different roles at Mt. SAC for the last 9 years, which include Student Services Outreach Specialist, Transfer Specialist, Transfer Club Advisor, EOPS/CARE Adjunct Counselor and Professor of Counseling. During her time at the Mt. SAC Transfer Center, she developed innovative student interventions and retention strategies that promote transfer student success such as specialized transfer workshops for Mt. SAC DREAM & EOPS students, an annual Transfer Conference, an annual Transfer Awareness Week, and an annual Transfer Application Bootcamp.
Most recently, she developed Transfer Agents Trainings and co-led the development and implementation of Mt. SAC’s inaugural Transfer Symposium 2021 to engage the campus community in transfer advocacy. Accolades include Mt. SAC’s President’s Award: Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning through Outcomes Assessment, Academic Senate 10 + 1 Award in Student Preparation and Success, Student Services Division Starfish Award, Mt. SAC Inspiring Women Award and the Educator of Distinction Award.
She currently serves as a full-time Counselor and Professor at Mt. SAC, providing transfer advising, counseling, and support services that place priority emphasis on the preparation and transfer of historically underrepresented students. Lupita enjoys watching Spanish-speaking TV shows, including Mexican telenovelas, and loves going HomeGoods shopping to decorate her home for every season and holiday. Above all, her greatest satisfaction comes from being innovative about ways to challenge the educational pipeline of undocumented and historically underrepresented students.
