Since 1996, the Cultural Wellness Center (CWC) has served the African American community, working to position community knowledge at the forefront of health practices and economic development. This year, the CWC has kicked off a capital campaign to build a permanent home. Dreamland will be the anchor project of the 38th Street Thrive Cultural District in Minneapolis, which aims to strengthen commercial corridors and adjacent neighborhoods and leverage resources to protect the area’s racial diversity and uplift its cultural identity.
To support this work, the Community Investment Council, a project of Moving from Race to Culture, is putting on a series of events and workshops. Through these events, we aim to nuture culture and connection, and to draw on the abundance of our communities to generate cash to make Dreamland a reality.
All proceeds from these workshops will go directly to the CWC's Capital Campaign.
