Population Projections

The Latinx population in San Diego County is projected to increase dramatically over the next several years; at the same time the white population is expected to remain at current levels until 2030, after which time it is projected to decline steadily

The number of graduates from San Diego County high schools has increased marginally (+3%) over the past five years but is projected to increase from current levels (33,406 in 2019-20) to 43,321 in 2023-24, after which point it is expected to decline again to current levels by 38,500.

Among high school graduates, the population trend is similar to that of the county as a whole, with Latinx students comprising an increasing percentage of high school graduates (48% in 2019-20) and white students making up 30% of high school graduates.
