ASA Columbus Chapter: Scientific Communication Video Contest
Deadline: October 8, 2025

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student working on an exciting research project in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field? Can you explain your work in a way that anyone can understand?

The ASA Columbus Chapter invites student members to participate in our first Scientific Communication Video Contest! Share your research in a 3-minute video using clear, engaging language that conveys your ideas to a broader audience beyond academic circles.

👥 Who Can Apply?

• Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD current students or recent graduates (up to 12 months after graduation)

• Must be a member of the ASA Columbus Chapter (ASA membership not required; new chapter memberships accepted)

🎬 Submission Guidelines

• Submit a 3-minute video (maximum) explaining your research project

• Use plain language that does not require field-specific background

• Videos must be in English

• Use of real-world examples or metaphors is encouraged

• Upload your video to YouTube (unlisted or public), and submit the shareable link via our form

• By submitting, you agree to allow your video to be shared on the chapter's social media

🏆 Awards & Recognition

• There will be winners in two categories: Undergraduate and Graduate (Master’s/PhD)

• Each winner will receive:

  • A Certificate of Recognition

  • A $100 prize for first place and $50 prize for second place in each category

  • Featured on ASA Columbus Chapter social media

• Winners will be announced and featured at the ASA Columbus Chapter’s 2025 Fall Speaker Event
