Peer Tutoring
Peer Tutoring
We have three peer tutoring programs to suit all students with varying educational needs. Some programs are during school hours, while others are after-school. We provide drop-in academic support for homework help, quick questions, and concept clarification; and also offer scheduled, individualized tutoring for students who require consistent, in-depth support through structured one-on-one sessions.
Drop-In Tutoring Programs
Math Tutorial Room Peer Tutoring
Tutors are available during Blocks 2–4 in the Math Tutorial Room, where students can receive help with coursework, ask questions, and reinforce their understanding of mathematical concepts. The program is designed to create a supportive learning environment and to promote the development of students’ confidence in their math abilities. Participation is free and open to students who may benefit from supplementary academic support.
The schedule for MTR tutors are available in most math classrooms. Tutors can be distinguished easily among the crowd as they wear blue lanyards with a nametag, and sit at a table labeled as the peer tutors' table.
Calculus Clinic
Calculus Clinic is a weekly academic support program designed to assist students enrolled in calculus courses. The workshop is held every Monday in the Math Tutorial Room and features structured revision lectures led by former calculus students. In addition to the instructional component, the program offers individualized homework assistance and guidance for Advanced Placement (AP) coursework. The clinic serves as a resource for students seeking to strengthen their understanding of calculus concepts and improve their academic performance.
Individual Tutoring Programs
LAUNCHPAD is the flagship tutoring initiative of Charles Best Tutoring Services, established in September 2024. The program provides free, individualized after-school tutoring to students across most non-humanities subjects. Students apply to the program, after which they are matched with an assigned tutor based on their academic needs. The initiative is designed to reduce barriers to academic support by offering accessible, one-on-one assistance without financial cost or long-term commitments commonly associated with private tutoring.
Please note that because of the limited resources, we are employing a waitlist system and are prioritizing students with teacher / counsellor referral.
