Software Required: Discord
Discord is free to use. There is no fee required to set up and run the service (server). There is no cost to us or the officials.
An account is needed to use Discord.
Installation
1) The official downloads Discord to their device by going to the appropriate store for mobile or the Discord website for desktops.
2) For mobile phones, this document outlines how to set up Discord to receive notifications. I don't believe anything special needs to be done for desktop installs. I haven't had to do anything special to receive notifications in my other uses. The mobile set up needs a few extra steps to receive notifications.
Use
1) In order to use Discord the officials will need to create an Account. If you already have an account, you can use that one.
2) Once your account is set up, you will need to get an invite to the CBOA Discord Community server. Here is a link you can use. The link will take you to the CBOA community on the Discord server.
3) If the account name isn't similar to your real name, it should be changed to your real name. That way people can contact each other, if they want.
After using the link, the officials would be set up to receive notifications of posts added to the games-coverage-forum channel.
Posting for Help
1) To ask for coverage you need to create a post in the games-coverage-forum channel.
2) When the post is added to the forum, a notification would be sent out to everyone with notifications turned on.
Filling Requests
1) An official wanting to help out would go to Discord and post a reply to your request.
2) When the post is added to the thread, notifications would be sent out indicating that the request was filled.
Tell the Assignor
3) The official requesting the game coverage should notify the Assignor of the changes.
