Here is how self-assign works. More or less.
When you go to the self assign tab, a list of available games that you can assign to yourself appears. There are a lot of variables that are used in creating the games list.
Active Status: You need to marked as an active official in Abritber.
Ready To Officiate Status: If you aren't marked as Ready To Officiate to be assigned games. If you aren't marked as Ready To Officiate, no games will appear in self assign. You can turn this off and on, on when you want to referee and off when you don't want to referee. This setting is different than blocks or blocked periods of time.
Game's Ranking level: All games are assigned a ranking level. The games ranking level needs to match your ranking level for it to appear in the list. The ranking levels are determined by the assigning and performance teams.
Official's Ranking Level: As a CBOA official you are assigned a ranking level. The games ranking level needs to match your ranking level for it to appear in the list. The ranking levels are determined by the performance team.
Date Range Window: The games that appear in the list to fall into the date range window. This window is a rolling window, it is 14 days from the the current date. If today is the 1st, you see games from the first to the fourteenth. This limit is set by the assigning team.
Daily Reset: Every evening at 10pm, the next days games, if there any, will appear in the list.
Self-Assigned Today: You are restricted by how many game sets you can self-assign yourself . When that limit is reached you can't assign yourself any more games until the next day (10pm that evening). This limit is set by the assigning team.
Weekly Number of Games: You can only officiate a certain number of games per week. This number can vary to meet the officiating demands placed on the association by our clients. The more games we have to officiate during the week, the higher the limit. In the past we had a lower limit in the fall before high school started. This let more people have an opportunity to officiate games. With CBE junior high's season shifted to the fall, we raised this number to 20 games per week. If you want to officiate more than that, you can always ask the assigner. This limit is set by the assigning team.
Game Assignments Already: If you are already assigned games that day, whether through self-assign or by the Assigner, you won't be able to able to self assign your games that day, You'll need to wait until 10pm that evening to see which games are available to officiate.
Blocks or Blocked Dates: You are able to block dates that you have other activities planned. On the days that you are blocked, games that fall during the blocked time won't appear in the self-assign list Your name also won't show up for the Assigner to manually assign games to you.

Here are some commonly asked questions and answers.
Should you see a list of available games? When you go to Aribter's self-assign page, you may or not see a list of games to choose from. You won't see a list if:
your aren't marked as Ready To Officiate
you have already assigned yourself games using self assign that day (1 self assign set per day, reset after 10 pm that evening)
you have exceeded the maximum number of games for the week (rolling over every day)
there aren't any games that match your ranking level for the current date window (the next 14 days)
there aren't any games schedule for the rolling window (ie. during the Christmas break there aren't any games scheduled)
I've logged on multiple days now and I haven't seen any games.
There are lots of reasons for this. Here are a few things to check:
Check your calendar to see if you have exceeded the weekly (7 day) limit.
Make sure you aren't blocked on the days at the end of your 7 day, weekly window.
How many days are your scheduled to referee? Are there games available on the days you don't have games? This can be a problem if you have games Monday to Friday and are looking for games that might fall on Saturday, Sunday and Holiday Mondays.
I accepted or self assigned some games today, before 10 pm. I signed on after 10pm and I don't see any games for me to assign using self assign.
there are no scheduled games that day
the games for the 14th day would be the only new games you would see
you may have exceeded your weekly number of games that you could officiate for the next 7 days
you have blocked the full day on the new day
you have blocked the time of day when all the new games are available (f you block yourself from 9am to 5 pm, the earliest game you can assign yourself to would be 5:01 pm. No games before 5:01 pm would appear in the list. If you want to referee starting at 5pm, you need to block yourself to 4:59pm.
you ranking level might be to low for all the scheduled games that day
There were a bunch of games in my self assign list. I myself for an assignment. All the other games that were on the list are gone, there isn't a list showing.
You can only assign yourself one set of games per day. When you chose an assignment that was your one assignment choice for the day. You can't assign yourself more games until 10 pm.
My buddy has a bunch of games in their list, but I don't see any games to choose from.
your aren't marked as Ready To Officiate
your ranking may be a different level that your buddy's ranking level and there aren't any games that match your ranking level for the current date window (the next 14 days)
between the time your buddy looked at his list, the games you have in common were taken
you have already games assigned either by using self assign (1 self assign set per day, reset after 10 pm that evening) or by the assigner
you have exceeded the maximum number of games for the week and your buddy hasn't (rolling over every day)
Our Current Settings
Daily Reset: 10 pm local time (at reset you set games for the next range window of 14 days)
Date Range Window: 14 days rolling over at the daily reset
Number of Self Assign sets per day: 1 self assign activity per day (You can only pick one set of games each day. Once you have chosen games that day, you can not pick any other ones until 10 pm when the daily reset happens)
Quota of games per day: 1 There is a quota on the number of games you can self assign yourself on any given day. If you games for that day, no more games will appear. For example if you self assign or Ryley assigns you games for October 1, you will not see any more games appear in self assign for October 1 even if there are games with open slots. Even thought the quota is 1, you can still self assign yourself more than 1 game as long as they are in the same set. For example if you see a set of 3 games available, you can self assign yourself to the 3 games. But you can't come back tomorrow and assign yourself more games for the same day.
Number of Games for the next 7 days: 30 games via self -assign and assigned by assigner, more if you ask the assigner to work on specific days and times. You can only be assigned 30 games per 7 day period. If you have more than 30 games for the 7 day period, you won't have any games for that 7 day period show up i self assign. If after reset the assigned count is less than 30 days and there are eligiible games for you to assign yourself too, the games will appear in the self assign list.
