Tournament Rules
Defense – player-to-player only; no double teaming away from the ball and no zone defense.
All players on the ball or on the ball side must be closely guarded. Players on the weak side may play help-side defence. If the referee determines there is intent to play a zone defence or double team away from the ball, the following penalties shall be assessed: on the first offense, play shall be stopped and a warning issued to the coach; on the second and any subsequent offense, the offensive team shall be awarded one free throw and possession at the point of interruption.
You may double team the ball - while the game is within 20 points. No double-teaming the ball with a game score spread bigger than 20.
Full-court player-to-player defense is allowed unless the game spread is 20 points or more; in that case, only half-court defense is permitted.
Halftime will be 10 minutes.
Games will be played in four 10-minute quarters.
Standard basketball substitutions will be used.
Team Penalty foul shots - a team accumulating a total of 5 team fouls in a quarter, would allow the opposing team to reach a penalty situation. Fouls will reset to 0 at the start of each subsequent quarter.
Two timeouts are allowed per half. If the game goes into overtime, only one additional timeout is allowed; no further timeouts will be granted for additional overtime periods.
Teams can advance the ball using a timeout with 60 seconds or less remaining in the 4th quarter and/or overtime.
10 seconds to cross half court.
30 second shot clock. (Referee will internally count down and give teams a verbal warning when the shot clock is at 10 second.)
Overtime will consist of 4 minutes of stop-time play. One timeout is allowed during the first overtime. 4 minutes overtimes will continue until a winner is determined.
