Nature Journal

Roz discovers new things as she observes the natural world. You can follow along in the story and track what Roz sees and does. What do you notice about nature and adaptation? Use your yard or a close by spot or park or your school's natural environment as a parallel. Take some time every day to observe and record the changes in this natural environment as Roz does in the novel. Be aware while doing it and notice and take notes of animals and plants. What is different? What is the same? Observe the impact that humans make. How is Roz more respectful of the environment? How can we be more like Roz?

Make a Map

Are you in the mood to try and create your own map of Roz's island? Chapters 7-9 describe different parts and places on the island. Make you own version, a birdseye view, of how the island could be mapped out. Here are a few things described there that you could include:

-The Ocean -The The Waterfall -The Sheer Cliffs -The Pond

-The Sandy Southern Point -The River -The Forest - Lizard Rock

-Wildflower spot - Berry Bushes -The Shelter - The Robot Graveyard
