Each year, the Graduate Student Council selects and invites a distinguished scientist to speak as part of the departmental colloquium series. In addition to the colloquium, the council organizes informal events such as coffee hours or lunch discussions so that graduate students have the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker. This tradition reflects the council's commitment to fostering academic exchange and bringing diverse scientific perspectives to our community. Below is an archive of past speakers invited by the graduate student body.
This year, the Graduate Student Council invited Dr. Craig Hawker, an expert in polymer development and engineering. Dr. Hawker is an interdisciplinary scientist with a distinguished record of contributions to both academic and industrial research. Pictured on the left is a photo from a coffee hour hosted by the council, where graduate students had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Hawker in an informal setting. Dr. Hawker's talk was titled, "Pushing the Limits of Polymer Chemistry through Sustainable Building Blocks".
