AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

Over the years, CBBR has been awarded and recognized by various agencies at national and international level. With the established national and international linkages, CBBR has given trust to host renowned international congress, become research hub and reference in biofuel and biochemical research.

Malaysia’s Research Star Award (MRSA) and Pengiktirafan Jurnal Crème 2019

On 5th of November 2019, The fifth ‘Malaysia’s Research Star Award and CRÈME Journal 2019 acknowledgement Award which was organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with Clarivate Analytics and Elsevier took place at the Zenith Hotel Putrajaya. The ceremony aims to honour the outstanding researchers from various backgrounds, including engineering, information and communication, clinical and health sciences, natural sciences, as well as social sciences.

Bernama - 8th International Forum on Industrial Bioprocessing (IBA-IFIBiop 2019)

On 1st – 5th May 2019, CBBR had successfully organized the 8th International Forum on Industrial Bioprocessing (IBA-IFIBiop 2019) that was co-organized with Curtin University (Sarawak Campus) and International Bioprocessing Association (IBA) that showed the turnout of more than 200 participants of over 10 countries participating in the international conference in Miri, Sarawak. The event had turned out to be a successful event with numerous press releases from local newspapers such as Bernama and Dayak Daily.

Nature Special Issue

On 27th June 2018, Prof Ir Dr Suzana Yusup, Head of Centre for Biofuel and Biochemical Research (CBBR) was featured in an article entitled ‘Science stars of east Asia’. The article was published by Nature, a world’s leading multidisciplinary science journal. The special issue highlighted ten outstanding and exceptional scientists from East Asia with significant contribution in their respective fields.

Talent and Human Capital Development

Since 2016, CBBR has produced 20 PhD and 21 Masters student. Few of them has been offered as Post-Doctoral position in CBBR to contribute back to the center and conduct research within the niche area. Currently, there are 79 active postgraduate students under HICoE CBBR including 43 Master students and 36 PhD students. As of 2019, a total of 21 PhD students had graduated between 2016 to 2019.
