From 23–30 May 2025, FAO and its Global Soil Partnership (GSP) held a training workshop to strengthen technical capacity for assessing soil biodiversity and functional indicators in support of both national and global monitoring efforts. The event was organized within the framework of the Global Soil Biodiversity Observatory (GLOSOB) – a monitoring initiative developed by the International Network of Soil Biodiversity Network (NETSOB) – and the Soil Biodiversity Observation Network (SoilBON) . I co-organized this event with Carlos Guerra (University of Coimbra - SoilBON).
I am the coordinator of a network with >1100 members worldwide who works towards putting soil biodiversity in the spotlight. Join us.
I am the co-chair of the 4th Global Soil Biodiversity conference where 600-1000 people are expected to attend.

Lake Erie wetlands are rapidly changing. What insights can we gain abut those changes by analyzing the Landsat archive?
I was interviewed by Shayla Kroeze, MSc. about my studies at Western and what happened to my career after I graduated. You can find the pdf here.
I have translated the three articles I have written for children to Portuguese, as an add-on to the Soil Biodiversity Collection. Others collaborators have also translated my papers to multiple languages.
Keep an eye for translations.
Together with Dr. Zoë Lindo, I have organized a Special Issue on the response of soil biodiversity to global change in Pedobiologia - Journal of Soil Ecology. In total, we had 14 articles published looking at microbes, nematodes, springtails, mites, and earthworms. Empirically and theoretically.
I have teamed up with Reach the World to share stories about my research, fieldwork, laboratory experiments and more. Those stories are available for kids worldwide in the format of journals, and they can also contact me for Q&A sessions via video calls with the help of their science teacher. Check it out here.
I was invited by the education Facebook channel Tudo Sobre Pós-Graduação (>140k followers) to talk about my PhD journey from looking for a supervisor abroad to submitting my application [video in Portuguese].
I was invited by the education Facebook channel Tudo Sobre Pós-Graduação (>140k followers) to talk about the taboo around working on a Ph.D. without holding an MSc. In Brazil people still believe this is an impossible thing to do [video in Portuguese].
I was invited by a Biology teacher (Meu Universo Biológico por Helen Santos) to briefly talk about my studies to Brazilian Elementary, and High School students.
