Legacy from the Past and Present Use of Renewable Sources of Energy
Mobility objectives in Mairena del Aljarafe and Koper:
1. Environmental awareness.
This has been achieved through:
- The gymkhana (one of the tests was to observe sustainable means of locomotion, waste recycling system and the use of solar panels in the center of Seville).
- Visit to a solar plant in Sanlúcar la Mayor and awareness of the pros and cons of an excessive use of these plants to the detriment of agriculture.
- Visit to the Coto de Doñana, in Huelva, where we learned about the importance of preserving the fauna, flora and natural aquifers.
2. Promoting values of inclusion and diversity
The participating students came from different backgrounds, which has been very enriching.
During the week that the mobility lasted, the teacher in charge of the musical thread in the center chose Slovenian songs to mark the class changes.
3. Improvement of digital competences
The first contacts between the Mairena and Koper students were virtual, by videoconference and then by social networks. In the presentations of the first session, in the research on solar plants in the second session and in the production of the final product, computer media (websites, emails, online forms-surveys, PP, Canva...), and online educational platforms (Moodle centers) were used.
This was an integrating and motivating center for everyone.
4. Improvement of language learning
English was used as a means of communication between teachers and students participating in the mobility.
In addition, the students enjoyed an exchange of basic expressions in Spanish, Slovenian and Italian.
5. Integration of the new teachers in the internationalization project of the center.
In addition to the coordinators and the accompanying teachers in the mobility, at least 8 other members of the teaching staff have collaborated in workshops, accompanying school trips and outings with the visiting teachers in their free time, turning the mobility into an integrating and motivating activity for all of them.

MUSIC and DANCE performance
11:15-11:45 Gymkhana in Sevilla city center. Getting around in Sevilla city center: past and present. Transport by underground. The students had to study of the architecture and sostainable measures in the city center.
Friday 15
8:15 Workshop: The students spent a couple oh hours doing a research on research on renewable/clean sources of energy in Andalucía (solar, wind, water).
10:30 After a short break, we departed to visit Solar Plant in Sanlúcar la Mayor, pioneer in their system.
Monday 18
8:30-10:00 Workshop at the library:
Mari Carmen García: A researcher at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, specialist in the impact of Climate Change in the Mediterranean Sea and Director of the Malaga Oceanographic Centre, introduced their projects.
10:30-12:30 Workshop. Our French teachers, so involved in sustainability, ran a workshop on 3Rs Christmas decoration. The Special Needs group visited the workshop and showed their our project: a Christmas market. The Erasmus students colaborated donating some of their work. They also kept some as a memory of their visit.
12:45-14:45. Workshop: Poster/leaflet Canva. It is time to decide what to work on our final projects. Facts and suggestions:

Tuesday 19
8:30-12:30. Visit to Doñana Natural and National Park. We could learn about the different ecosystems and how we can preserve them. We were also told about the lack of water and how different measures are being dealt with by politicians.
Wednesday 20
7:30 Arrival at school and farewell. Time to say goodbye and...prepare our mobility in Slovenia in January!

DAY 1 (Thursday, January 18):
- Flight.
- Seville-Treviso, transfer by minibus to Koper, pick up by the families and accommodation.

DAY 2 (Friday, January 19):
- After welcoming the group to the Slovenian institute, work began to get the students back on the pulse of the project.
- We followed with a workshop on traditional Slovenian dances in which the students were able to enjoy local music and folklore.
- To end the day, the Slovenian students showed our students the sights of their city. Although the rain and the cold made the visit difficult, the beauty of the streets and the corners that Koper offers did the rest.
Después de la bienvenida del grupo al instituto esloveno, se comenzó el trabajo para que los estudiantes retomaran el pulso del proyecto.
Seguimos con un taller de bailes tradicionales eslovenos en el que los estudiantes pudieron disfrutar de la música y folklore local.
Para terminar la jornada, los estudiantes eslovenos enseñaron los puntos de interés de su ciudad a nuestros estudiantes. Aunque la lluvia y el frío dificultaron la visita, la belleza de las calles y los rincones que Koper ofrece, hicieron el resto.
DAY 3 (Saturday, January 20):
- After the copious snowfall of the previous day and night, as soon as we crossed the first hills into the interior of Slovenia towards its capital, Ljubljana, we encountered a snowy landscape and an extremely cold day that we were able to enjoy from the first stop.
Tras la copiosa nevada del día y la noche anteriores, tan pronto cruzamos las primeras lomas hacia el interior de Eslovenia dirección hacia su capital, Ljubljana, nos encontramos con un paisaje nevado y un día extremadamente frío que pudimos disfrutar desde la primera parada.
- Once we arrived in Ljubljana, we headed to the Castle, where a group of extras recreated the different stages of the city, from the Roman Emona to the present day.
- Afterwards we had the opportunity to walk around the city and the students were challenged to look for all the symbols of a sustainable city they could find, from efficient, zero-emission public transport (bus and streetcar) to individual mobility methods such as bicycles and scooters.
- Transfer to Bled, the lake that symbolizes the beauty of this country. Stroll around the lake and free time for shopping.
- Return to Koper
Una vez llegamos a Ljubljana, nos dirigimos al Castillo, donde un grupo de figurantes nos recrearon las distintas etapas de la ciudad, desde la romana Emona hasta la actualidad.
Posteriormente tuvimos la oportunidad de pasear por la ciudad y los estudiantes fueron emplazados a buscar todos los símbolos de ciudad sostenible que pudieran encontrar, desde transportes públicos eficientes y de cero emisiones (autobús y tranvía) hasta métodos de movilidad individual como la bicicleta o el patinete.
Traslado a Bled, el lago símbolo de la belleza que rebosa este país. Paseo por los alrededores del lago y tiempo libre para compras.
Regreso a Koper
(Sunday, January 21):
- Sunday the students spent together with families, who took the opportunity to take them to nearby villages on the Slovenian, Italian and Croatian coast.
Domingo que los estudiantes pasaron junto a las familias, que aprovecharon para llevarlos a pueblos cercanos de la costa eslovena, italiana y croata.
DAY 5 (Monday, January 22):
- First meeting to explain the day's work topics.
- Visit to the port of Koper by bus. This is one of the most modern ports in Europe, priding itself on being responsible and respectful of both the environment and the people living in the surrounding area. Its goal is to reach as soon as possible not only new records of cargo movement, but also to do it in such a way that during the berthing of large cargo ships, they disturb the local population as little as possible.
Primera reunión para explicar los temas de trabajo del día
Visita al puerto de Koper en autobús. Se trata de uno de los puertos más modernos de Europa, orgulloso de ser responsable y respetuoso tanto con el medio ambiente como con las personas que viven en los alrededores. Su objetivo es alcanzar lo antes posible no sólo nuevos records de movimiento de mercancías, sino también hacerlo de modo que durante el atraque de los grandes cargueros, estos molesten lo menos posible a la población local.
After the break, the Slovenian students presented to the group their work on the geographic, biological and marine characteristics of the Slovenian coast, as well as some projects for the recovery of protected species such as dolphins.
Después del descanso para reponer fuerzas, los estudiantes eslovenos presentaron al grupo sus trabajos sobre las características geográficas, biológicas y marinas de la costa eslovena, así como algunos proyectos de recuperación de especies protegidas como los delfines.
To finish the day's work, the students went to the coast of Koper to collect water samples and analyze them in situ to see the levels of contamination in different wastes. As we could imagine from how responsible our Slovenian friends seem to be, the results were negative for nitrates, phosphates, and other toxic waste from possible dumping into the sea. Family evening with their Slovenian companions.
Para terminar el trabajo del día, los estudiantes se dirigieron a la costa de Koper para recoger muestras de agua y analizarlas in situ para ver los niveles de contaminación en distintos residuos. Como podíamos imaginar por lo responsables que parecen nuestros amigos eslovenos, los resultados dieron negativo en nitratos, fosfatos, y otros residuos tóxicos provenientes de posibles vertidos al mar. Tarde en familia con sus compañeros eslovenos/as.
DAY 6 (Tuesday, January 23):
- Transfer by bus to the karst caves Skocjan. Visit to the UNESCO heritage karst grotto where our students could see the grandeur of the nature of this grotto.
Traslado en autobús a las cuevas de origen cárstico Skocjan. Visita a la gruta cárstica patrimonio de la UNESCO en la que nuestros estudiantes pudieron ver la grandiosidad de la naturaleza de esta gruta.
Transfer to the Italian border town Gorica / Nova Gorica. When this town was divided in two after World War II and the Slovenian inhabitants remained in Italian territory, they built their new town next to the one that had been their town for centuries and today they are twinned and separated only by a street. In fact, during the pandemic, the mayors of both towns, belonging to two brother countries, collaborated so that entire families could hear from their relatives on the other side of the street.

Traslado a la ciudad fronteriza con Italia Gorica / Nova Gorica. Cuando este pueblo fue dividido en dos tras la 2ª Guerra Mundial y los habitantes eslovenos quedaban en territorio italiano, levantaron su nueva población junto a la que había sido su localidad durante siglos y hoy están hermanados y separados sólo por una calle. De hecho, durante la pandemia los alcaldes de ambas localidades pertenecientes a dos países hermanos, colaboraron para que familias enteras pudieran saber de sus familiares al otro lado de la calle.

DAY 7 (Wednesday, January 24):
- The students were divided into two workshops:
◦ one oriented to the elaboration of a logo that would capture the ideals of the project, the challenges that our young people are going to face in the immediate future: working side by side with European students to improve sustainability, inclusion and diversity.
◦ The second workshop focused on the development of an article to disseminate the same values mentioned above.
The final products of these workshops will be published on the internationalization web pages of the respective centers.
Los estudiantes se dividieron en dos talleres:
uno orientado a la elaboración de un logo que recogiera los ideales del proyecto, los retos que nuestros jóvenes van a tener que afrontar en un futuro inmediato: el trabajo codo con codo con estudiantes europeos para mejorar la sostenibilidad, la inclusión y la diversidad.
El segundo taller se centró en la elaboración de un artículo de divulgación de los mismos valores mencionados anteriormente.
Los productos finales de estos talleres se publicarán en las páginas web dedicadas a la internacionalización de los respectivos centros
DAY 8 (Thursday 25 January):
Farewell to the group
