About Us

The Grid Modernization Lab at Chung-Ang University was established to pave the way for the modern power grid of the future. Historically, ensuring a reliable power supply has been the most critical issue in conventional power grids, driving the nation's growth. However, this growth has also contributed to climate change, prompting the need for sustainable power supplies. Unfortunately, sustainable power sources such as renewable energy, energy storage systems, and small modular reactors pose a challenge to power grid stability, which in turn restricts the integration of these sources. Through the development of cutting-edge technologies encompassing communication, metering, big data, and control systems, the Grid Modernization Lab at Chung-Ang University aims to contribute to the realization of both reliable and sustainable power grids.
