Epigenetic non-histone modifications: regulation of protein function
Epigenetic non-histone modifications: regulation of protein function
1. Inhibition of acetylation by INHAT (Inhibitors of acetyltransferase) complex
We previously identified SET/TAF-Iβ and pp32 as subunits of the INHAT complex. We demonstrated that SET/TAF-Iβ is also responsible for inhibition of acetylation of several non-histone proteins such as p53, Ku70/80 and FOXO1.
2. Identification of epigenetic modification of non-histone proteins
We have been studying the modification of various non-histone protein. We purify various histone modifiers to screen activities toward target proteins. We analyze the effect of these modifications on target proteins and conduct studies to establish mechanism by non-histone protein modifications. In addition, we are using the mechanisms we have found to contribute to the search for therapeutic candidates that can help in the treatment of cancer.
