Bonding with children is typically done via a game of catch. So why not with robots? In this year's Applied Robotics and Research Robotics courses (ROB 421 and ROB 521 respectively), our teams are tasked with building a robot to play catch with.
Our goal is to create a robot which will play cooperative and competitive versions of catch with a human. While the environment of the game is structured and well defined, there are many issues with human-robot teaming to overcome and achieve reliable performance.
