MANILA, Philippines — With powerful spikes, flawless teamwork, and unwavering grit, the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs have once again etched their name into Philippine collegiate sports history. After claiming the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball title, the team has now shifted its focus toward a greater goal: building a volleyball legacy that will stand the test of time.
The Lady Bulldogs, long recognized for their athleticism and resilience, delivered a commanding performance throughout the season, culminating in a well-earned championship. Their triumph is not just a win—it’s a statement. NU is no longer just a title contender; it’s a symbol of consistency, excellence, and determination in Philippine women’s volleyball.
At the heart of this team’s success is standout player Bella Belen. The talented outside hitter has emerged as one of the league’s brightest stars, showing not only top-tier skills but also maturity and leadership well beyond her years. Her presence on the court has anchored NU’s dynamic offense and inspired confidence in her teammates.
But this victory, according to both players and coaching staff, is only the beginning. NU head coach Norman Miguel emphasized that while the championship is cause for celebration, the real challenge lies in sustaining their performance and growing the program further. “It’s about consistency,” he said. “We’re focused on long-term development—bringing in young talent, improving our systems, and keeping our players mentally strong and hungry.”
Part of NU’s formula for success lies in its deep roster of well-coached, hardworking players, many of whom have trained together since high school. The team’s chemistry, bolstered by years of shared experience, is evident in their seamless coordination and intuitive playmaking.
Beyond the court, NU is also making investments in athletic development. With better training facilities, sports science support, and a stronger recruitment pipeline, the university is setting up an infrastructure that ensures its volleyball program will remain competitive for years to come.
Fans and analysts alike are now looking at the NU Lady Bulldogs not just as champions of Season 87, but as the possible foundation of a lasting dynasty in the UAAP. With key players still eligible to play and a culture rooted in discipline and respect, the team has the tools—and the mindset—to dominate in seasons to come.
As they celebrate their most recent championship, the Lady Bulldogs are also quietly preparing for their next battles. “This win is special,” Belen said, “but we know we can't stop here. We want to be remembered not just for one title, but for building something that lasts.”
