Dayton is one of those once in a lifetime athletes. The improvement he made from a Freshmen to a Senior was incredible. As a freshmen the points he earned were an important part of of winning the 2018 team championship. As a senior he scored 38 points in 3 individual titles and second place in the 4x800m. Dayton was later named Arizona Gatoraide Track Athelete of the year.
Dallin dealt with injuries his entire high school career. The only year he was actually healthy the season was canceled by covid. Multiple broken arms, stress fractured hip joints, tendonitis is his foot all made his journey a little more difficult. He decided to quit playing football after his junior year to focus on pole vault which worked out well with him winning the State Championship. Dallin was in a group of talented boy vaulters that finished 1st, 3rd, and 6th at state.
Jayce consistently improved each year battling though injury. He was very rarely the biggest thrower out there. His unique balance of speed and power allowed him to be very successfull. After two state runner up finishes in 2018 and 2019 and a covid year Jayce was finally able to break through and win the State Championship in 2021
This relay included Kierney Murphy, Natalie Lewis, Aria Cain, and Morgan Lewis. This relay team did not have many opportunities to run together through out the year. Coming together at the perfect time they took the state championship and set the school record.
After overcoming running with a bloody nose in the 100m High Hurdles she was able to come back and compete in pole vault. As a member of a strong pole vaulting team she consistently improved all year hitting her personal best at the state meet.
For two years Taylor had been frustrated finishing 2nd in the State Meet. After chasing the state record in almost every meet in 2019 she was not happy with her height but she finally won her state championship. She also won the Chandler Rotary. She broke the state record with a jump of 13'06" before the 2020 season was canceled ending the opportunity for her to defend her championship.
Tyla was a two time state champion this year as she also was a member of the 4x100m state champion relay. After a 5th place in 2018 she came back and really dominated the entire year. She threw her personal best during the state championship.
Prior to this State meet the best a women's 4x100 had placed was 5th. This group was not favored to win but ran an outstanding race. Members of this relay included Lael Bowser, Tyla Biggs, Morgan Lewis, Odalis Jackson.
After placing 2nd in 2018 this relay came back in fantastic fashion to win in 2019. They were one of the best 4x100m in the entire state not just our division winning the Chandler Rotary. The team included Collin Gapen, Brandon Thomas, Isaiah Newcombe, and Matt Abramson. .
After placing 2nd in state as a freshmen Davis came roaring back setting his own personal and school record in the state championship. This was the programs first individual state champion.
For the second year in a row Casteel took home the 4x400m championship. The overall time was 7 seconds faster with only one change in the members of this team. Members of this team were Isaac Davis, Mason Salonic, Matthew Abramson, and Collin Gapen. WInning this event sealed the team championship.
This was first relay team state championship in the track program. The team included three sophomores and a Freshmen which made this accomplishment even more special. Members of this team were Isaac Davis, Derek Auclair, Matthew Abramson, and Collin Gapen.
