This June, I’ll be directing Mary Poppins Jr. with the Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies in Estes Park, and I couldn’t be more excited for the experience. I’ll be working with an incredible group of middle and high school students, guiding them as we bring this classic story to life on stage. The entire production comes together in just two weeks, which makes it a fast-paced, high-energy process full of creativity, teamwork, and a little bit of theatrical magic.
One of my favorite moments so far has already happened- when we announced the cast. Since the announcement fell on April Fool’s Day, I couldn’t resist having a little fun with it. Before sending out the official cast list, I created a completely ridiculous prank version filled with unexpected (and very fake) casting choices. It definitely caused a lot of laughs before we revealed the real list. It was a great way to kick off what I know will be a memorable and joy-filled production process!

Residents of a retirement hotel wish for an old-fashioned Christmas. Their wish is granted by the Spirit of Christmas, with unexpected complications: the microwave becomes a wood stove, with a pile of wood waiting to be chopped; the bathroom disappears and an outhouse springs up in the backyard, etc. After many miscommunications, a few tears, a surprising arrest, and a trip to the grocery, the residents eventually decide that modern day is better. An Old-Fashioned Christmas is fun for actors and audiences of all ages as it tells the age old tale of gratitude and being thankful for what you have. We hope you'll visit the Chatfield Retirement Hotel and join us for a fun cookie decorating party in between shows. Merry Christmas!
This fun-tastic adaptation is a delight for all actors and audiences. Come join Wendy and her siblings as Peter Pan and Tinker Bell carry you off to the enchanted Neverland where children never grow up. There you will find all the beloved characters of this classic adventure: Lost Kids, Fairies and Mermaids of the Lagoon. Not to mention the infamous Captain Hook and his crew of villainous pirates. Follow us to Neverland...second star on the right and straight on ‘til morning. There are equitable and fun speaking roles for all cast members. Camp participants put together a full ensemble non-musical production to be performed in the Black Box Theatre at the Arvada Center. Regular attendance and commitment as well as line memorization are required for this camp. Families are asked to assist with costuming needs.
This fun-filled musical transports us inside the bright, pixelated world of video games. When the famous characters we know and love run out of lives, they decide to put on a musical fundraiser that will help them raise gold rings and play on. Through hilarious and heartfelt musical numbers we see the heroes, villains and sidekicks like we’ve never seen them before. But when things go terribly awry, it’s the quiet sidekick Little Mushroom who must find the hero within to help save the day.
