"The Channel Exile "
A period of fresh enlightening air over Jersey, The Channel Islands. Setting the stage for a new body of oil colour paintings. An interpretation of a culture. Through time a broader sense of it’s borders and foundations come to light.
The harmony and the contrasts between the country and the city, a mirror for a universal global way of living, yet in a mini society.
The face of this society becomes the theme, in all its remarkably different expressions, on a minuscule island scale, yet portraying the universal issues and values we live with. A sense of reality, yet a bit of a dreamworld, a fictional version of reality, secluded in a landscape of beauty. It's this personality of Jersey that makes it so special, it’s tangibility.
This exhibition was enriched by a collaboration with ArtHouse Jersey with a work and research period at their studios at the Grève de Lecq Barracks & Jersey Heritage with an exhibition at the Jersey Museum.
