All aboard! Join us this September and October for our fall session of Wild Pages Adventure Club, where beloved stories come to life through hands-on outdoor adventures.
This season we'll journey into the classic American novel The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Rather than simply reading the story, children will step inside it—building shelters, cooking in a Dutch oven, solving mysteries, whittling, exploring the outdoors, recording discoveries through journaling, creating with natural materials, practicing wilderness skills, walking trails, and growing confidence through meaningful adventures with new friends.
Through this immersive experience, students will strengthen reading comprehension, critical thinking, communication, and language arts skills while developing practical outdoor and homesteading skills, confidence, creativity, and a deeper connection with nature.
Perfect for children who love:
📚 Great stories
🌲 Exploring the outdoors
🏕️ Building forts and shelters
🍳 Outdoor cooking

🌿 Nature exploration and imaginative play
We can't wait for you to climb aboard and join the adventure!
While each day will vary based on our adventures, the children's interests, and the natural flow of the day, our schedule will generally follow this format. Every activity is inspired by the story we're reading and designed to bring the book to life through hands-on outdoor experiences.

Wild Pages Adventure Club is taught by Katie Marchant, founder and lead teacher of Cascade Kids Nature School. Katie brings a wealth of experience working with children as a retired elementary school teacher with more than eight years of classroom experience, a former children's ski instructor, and an experienced outdoor educator. She is passionate about helping children develop a love of reading, learning, and nature through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
Want to learn more? You can read more about Katie and her background toward the bottom of our Home page.
Wild Pages Adventure Club will meet at an outdoor location in the Provo, Utah area, with opportunities to venture beyond the park for nature walks and outdoor exploration. Our planned meeting location is Canyon Glen Park, though the location may be adjusted due to construction, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Located just a few minutes up Provo Canyon, Canyon Glen Park provides the perfect setting for our adventures. With beautiful natural surroundings, an outdoor amphitheater, and several pavilions, the park offers plenty of space for storytelling, crafts, hands-on activities, and a comfortable gathering place in case of changing weather.
The park also features fire pits that are ideal for our outdoor cooking experiences, including Dutch oven meals inspired by our adventures. Even better, Canyon Glen provides direct access to the Provo River Trail, a former railroad corridor that sparks the imagination and creates the perfect connection to The Boxcar Children. As we walk along the trail, children can imagine the history of the old rail line while exploring nature, making observations, and bringing the story to life.
This fall session of Wild Pages Adventure Club is designed for children ages 6–10. However, The Boxcar Children is a timeless story that can be enjoyed by a wide range of ages. If you are interested in enrolling an independent 5-year-old or an enthusiastic 11-year-old, reach out to us! We would be happy to discuss whether this program would be a good fit for your child, especially if they have siblings already participating in the club.

Wild Pages Adventure Club (5-day sessions): $195 per child
Early Bird Discount: $20 off for registration submitted before August 5th, 2026
Sibling Discount: $5 off per child for families enrolling more than one child
We carefully plan each Wild Pages Adventure Club session based on enrollment, including staffing, supplies, and materials. Because of this, program fees are non-refundable once registration is confirmed.
If you need to withdraw your child from the program, please notify us as soon as possible. If we are able to fill your child’s spot from our waitlist, a refund may be considered.
To ensure we can provide a high-quality experience for our students, a minimum enrollment of 5 students is required for the program to run. If minimum enrollment is not met, Cascade Kids reserves the right to cancel the session and families will receive a full refund.
As a small, locally owned program, we greatly appreciate your support in helping us spread the word to friends and family who may be interested in joining our outdoor learning adventures!
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us create a meaningful experience for every student.
Please send your child prepared for outdoor exploration and hands-on adventures each week:
🎒 A kid-sized backpack that fits comfortably for nature walks.
💧 A filled water bottle
🍎 Optional: A healthy snack (each day will also include a provided snack related to the story, please let us know of any food allergies or dietary needs)
🧥 Appropriate clothing layers for the day’s weather conditions.
👟 Comfortable, adventure-ready shoes such as athletic shoes, hiking shoes, or water shoes with a secure heel strap.
🌞 Sunscreen applied before drop-off, if desired.
🏷️ All items labeled with your child’s name.
Please note: clothing and shoes may get wet, muddy, and messy! We encourage families to send children in play clothes that can handle a little adventure.
Please ensure your child is dropped off on time. Many of our class days involve hiking or leaving the immediate class area, so punctual drop-off helps ensure that all students are able to participate and that no one is left behind.
To allow staff time to prepare for the day, please do not drop off students more than 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. Likewise, please plan to pick up your child within 5 minutes of the scheduled end time, as we begin preparing for the next session shortly after class ends.
If a student is dropped off or picked up more than 5 minutes early or late, a $1 per minute fee may be charged for each additional minute.
We understand that unexpected delays can happen. If you are running late, please communicate with us as soon as possible.
We request that students are potty trained prior to starting Cascade Kids, but we understand that each child progresses at their own pace and we are happy to support them through the process.
If your child is still in diapers, we ask that a parent or caregiver remain reachable and close by in case a diaper change is needed during class.
Teachers will assist with age-appropriate support such as helping with pants up and down, managing layers and snowsuits, and offering gentle reminders. We ask that families take their child to the bathroom before class begins.
When park bathrooms are open, we will use them. On hikes or when far from facilities, teachers may help your child find a private and respectful spot along the trail.
At Cascade Kids Nature School, we believe that “there’s no such thing as bad weather—only bad clothing.” We encourage all students to come dressed appropriately for the day’s conditions so they can fully enjoy their time outdoors.
Our Cascade Kids programs are held rain or shine! While we expect generally pleasant weather in September/October, nature has its own plans. On hot and sunny days, we’ll focus on staying hydrated and finding shade. If it rains, we’ll enjoy the experience, jumping in puddles, exploring, and seeing the canyon from a new perspective.
If severe weather occurs, such as lightning, high winds, or very poor air quality, we may cancel camp for safety reasons. Families will receive a prorated refund for any full camp days canceled due to weather conditions.
Please note that refunds are not available for absences due to illness, vacations, or other personal commitments. If there are extenuating circumstances and your child misses more than half of the program days, please reach out to us directly. We’re always happy to discuss possible solutions and do our best to accommodate your family’s needs.
We do not anticipate canceling class sessions. However, if enrollment is insufficient, Cascade Kids Nature School reserves the right to cancel a session. If this occurs, families will be notified and will receive a full refund.
One of the great benefits of outdoor education is that children often stay healthier thanks to the fresh air and room to move! A mild runny nose or small sniffles are usually okay. However, if your child has vomiting, diarrhea, a fever, an unexplained rash, lice, a very persistent cough, or other illness that spreads easily, we ask that they stay home to rest and get well. We trust families to use their best judgment and to consider how their child is feeling overall. Please know that at this time we are not able to offer make-up classes or refunds for missed days due to illness.
The safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. While we take great care to prevent accidents and respond proactively to changing conditions, emergencies can occasionally occur.
In the event of an emergency:
Staff will ensure the immediate safety of all students.
First Aid will be administered as needed.
If further medical care is required, 911 will be called.
Parents or guardians will be notified as soon as possible.
For minor injuries (scrapes, bruises, etc.), staff will provide basic first aid and inform parents at pick-up.
In the event of a severe weather emergency, our team will follow established safety procedures, move to a secure location, and notify families of our status and next steps via phone or text.
Please ensure that your emergency contact information is up to date and that at least one listed contact can be reached during camp hours.
Regular updates and reminders will be shared via email and/or the GroupMe app.
For urgent matters (such as your child needing a diaper change, extra emotional support, or in the case of an emergency) we will contact you directly by phone call or text message.
Please be sure that your contact information is current and that at least one parent or guardian is reachable during program hours.
Cascade Kids Nature School is an enrichment program and is not a licensed childcare facility. Parents are welcome to drop off children during program hours; however, a parent or guardian must remain reachable by phone throughout the day. In the event of a need (such as a diaper change, emotional support, behavior concern, or emergency) parents are expected to return within a reasonable timeframe.
Student safety is a top priority at Cascade Kids Nature School, and we maintain established procedures and supervision practices to promote a safe and positive environment. However, as with any outdoor program, there is an inherent level of risk associated with play and exploration in nature.
A parent or legal guardian is required to sign a liability waiver prior to or on the first day of attendance. The liability waiver is linked in the second section of google from application. Or can be found toward the bottom of our registration page.
Cascade Kids Nature School is committed to creating a safe, positive, and respectful environment for all participants.
Students are expected to:
Follow instructions from program staff
Treat other students, staff, and the natural environment with respect
Stay with the group and within designated activity areas
Use equipment safely
Refrain from aggressive, unsafe, or disruptive behavior
If a student’s behavior creates a safety concern for themselves or others, program staff will address the situation using appropriate guidance and redirection.
If unsafe or disruptive behavior continues, Cascade Kids Nature School reserves the right to dismiss a student from the program. In such cases, a parent or guardian may be asked to pick up their child early. No refunds will be issued for dismissal due to unsafe or inappropriate behavior.
