Lobbying Reform- For too long, Washington has been run by powerful lobbying groups, billionaires, and special interests. This has made the government ignore the needs of the lower and middle classes. Foreign PACs have also influenced politicians into ignoring Americans when making foreign policy decisions. Because of this, I support passing a new constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United Decision (which gave corporations and billionaires unchecked control of politicians). I will do whatever it takes to make the government start working for the people, not the elite. Watchdogs like "TrackAIPAC" have done amazing work showcasing corruption through lobbying in Congress.
Russel's PAC money has rendered him incapable of serving the AVERAGE Horry County resident. I refuse to take a penny from any PAC and will endlessly work to end this cruel practice of selling our district to the elites. Let's send a message and vote him out.
The Economy- Our economy should reward hard work and provide stability for all families. Right now, most of America is struggling to keep up with rising costs, while the top has never done better. I support ending income taxes for families making less than 200K annually and lowering taxes for families making less than 350K annually. It is time for the wealthiest individuals and biggest corporations to pay their share. I will raise taxes on both and work to close loopholes that promote tax avoidance by the elites. Our economy should be one where hard work leads to fair and just outcomes.
The Next Generation - The decisions made by Washington today will shape the lives of our generation. Yet, our generation currently has little to no representation in Congress. Decisions regarding the economy, taxing structure, infrastructure, and the environment will make permanent impacts on our future, and our generation deserves to have a voice. Our generation knows that government works when it remains free of lobbying and special interests. Our generation knows it's time to boldly assist the working class economically. This campaign is about letting the will of the next generation be heard nationally.
Strengthening Representation in Congress (Uncap the House) - After years of misrepresentation, most Americans feel disconnected from their representatives. One reason is that congressional districts have grown in population significantly over the years, meaning members of the House are now representing hundreds of thousands of people. I support uncapping the House so that each member can represent smaller, more manageable districts. This would help members of the House be able to connect to voters who have been so long ignored, and bring representation closer to the people. It would also make district races more competitive and harder for parties to gerrymander. More members would allow more average Americans to run and not need PAC $ to compete.Â
Healthcare- Healthcare is a basic necessity, not a privilege. No one should have to choose between medical attention and feeding their family, especially in a country as economically capable as ours. The current healthcare system is too expensive and unfairly controlled by private insurance companies. I support moving towards a universal healthcare system that offers full healthcare coverage for every American. Income and employment status should not determine whether someone has access to healthcare.
Establishing Stability Overseas- America's Role globally should be guided by stability, diplomacy, and long-term security -- not by endless wars that lack credible goals. For decades, our country has participated in numerous conflicts that have cost the country economically, but more importantly, have led to lives lost. These decisions, made by corporations, foreign interests, and PACs through lobbying, have stretched our country thin and left the working class behind. I will push to make the federal government prioritize diplomatic solutions over endless wars. I am the only SC-7 candidate who can do this independent of influence from the special interests.
