Scouting for Food is the largest food collection event in the nation. Scouts go door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items for the less fortunate. The food is then distributed to local food pantries and assistance agencies across Circle Ten Council. Generally, Elm Fork participates the first & second weekend of February in the early morning.
What is Scouting for Food?
Scouting for Food is the largest door-to-door food collection effort in the North Texas and Southern Oklahoma area benefiting more than 45 assistance agencies across the area.
On the first weekend, Scouts and Parents will drop off grocery bags and flyers at their neighbors' doors inviting residents to donate non-perishables. They are instructed to leave them on their front porch the night before/ morning of the following Saturday. Following the pickup, we bring all donations to a nearby food pantry, typically the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry in Carrollton.
On the following weekend, Scouts and Parents will pick up the donations from the front doors. Can't make the pickup? That's okay, reach out to the pack and we'll find some help to cover your territory.
Live in an apartment or community that does not allow bags/flyers? Feel free to choose a couple of streets in a nearby neighborhood as your collection location. Be sure to make note of the streets so you can go back the following week.
