Algonquin Mill Fall Festival 2025
One of a Kind Gifts for a Great Price!
Throughout the year, many activities take place at the Farmhouse. A special room was added to the back of the farmhouse to house the quilting and weaving studio. Work sessions happen year round and an open house is staged during the October Algonquin Mill Festival the second weekend of October every year. Artisans weaving and quilting can be found working on every Thursday throughout the year (except for holidays). Items can be purchased from 10-2 on Thursday.
The weavers are busy making rugs, table runners, mug rugs and place mats on antique Union Rug Looms. These items are for sale at very reasonable prices. Mug rugs are $2 each, place mats at $8 each and rugs are sold according to their length from $25 - $70 each. Some rugs are also made into tote bags from $25-$35.
In another part of the room, quilters are busy putting together a quilt and then hand quilting the three layers. Some of these quilts have been made by members of the group and others come from outside sources. A very special service offered by the quilters is the opportunity to have a quilt hand quilted by this group. As hand quilting is a tedious and slow process there is almost always a waiting list. For Sale Quilts: Baby Quilts start at $100 and larger quilts start at $250 to quilt.
While looms and quilting frames take up a substantial amount of room, others work on smaller projects. Hats and scarves are made on a small loom which actually is used for knitting called a rake or long loom.
This year, we have Apple Butter and Sauerkraut for sale. Please contact the Carroll County Historical Society at 330 627-5910 or drop by on Thursday!
