Registration for the 2027 course will open in late December; the 2026 course has concluded.
The CCBA Basic Beekeeping Course is an introductory class held in the winter that teaches attendees about the basics of honey bees and beekeeping – everything you need to know to start your own apiary in the spring. The class will also provide you with the opportunity to sign up for a mentor and includes a one-year family membership in CCBA.
CCBA Mentor Program
The mentorship program is free and allows you to learn from an experienced beekeeper in your area. Mentors are other beekeepers in the CCBA that volunteer their time to help new beekeepers learn.
If you are looking to volunteer, signing up as a mentor is a great way to contribute and connect with fellow beekeepers. You don’t need to have multiple years of experience.
We are looking for folks to step up and be mentors to our next class of beekeepers! You don't need years and years of experience to be a mentor to a new beekeeper; a lot of people start mentoring in their second year. Remember, you have already been through it before and you can answer those questions about how to install a package and when to add that second box. If you don't know the answer to something, you still have your mentor to fall back on.
Please complete the mentor form, linked below if you are interested in helping out one of the new beekeepers in the 2027 class!
