Community Service Hours

Hours for the 2023-2024 School Year:

• You may start counting hours for NHS from June 1st , 2023.

• You need 25 hours of community service starting from June 1, 2023 to May 1, 2024. These hours need to be logged into your Naviance and approved no later than May 1st. These hours DO NOT need to be separate from other organizations.  If you already have 25 hours in Naviance since June 1, then you just need them to be approved.  NOTE: At least 10 of the 25 hours must be completed in Tarrant County.

NHS Community Service Guidelines:

1. It is  required for all returning members of National Honor Society to complete 25 community service hours. Of these 25 hours, a minimum of 15 need to come from service to the school or community while the other 10 can be donation based or may also come from service opportunities. 

Hours for Monetary Donations

• • $10 = 1 hour

  • $20 = 2 hours

  • $30 = 3 hours

  • $40 = 4 hours

  • $50 = 5 hours

Hours for Clothing Donations

• • Two items = 1 hour

  • Three items = 2 hours

  • Four items = 3 hours

  • Five items = 4 hours

  • Six items = 5 hours

2. NHS documented community service hours are to be completed and entered into the Naviance portal.

3. New Juniors and Seniors (if accepted in the spring semester) only need 25 hours of community service to fulfill the membership obligation in the year they are accepted.
