Community Service Hours

Guidelines for Community Service Hours:

• You may start counting hours for NHS from June 1st.

• You need 25 hours of community service starting from June 1st  to May 1st each year of membership. These hours need to be logged into your SchooLinks account and approved no later than May 1st. These hours DO NOT need to be separate from other organizations.   NOTE: At least 10 of the 25 hours must be completed in Tarrant County. 

• Each member is required to attend ONE NHS SPONSORED COMMUNITY SERVICE FUNCTION during the year. There will be more than a dozen of these opportunities so you should be able to find one that works with your schedule and interest. Watch your email and social media posts for the opportunities as they become available.  See below for a list of opportunities offered this school year.

• Keep a record of all the hours you plan to count toward NHS in your SchooLinks account. You will submit a screenshot of your hours once they are complete, no later than May 1st.

• Donation Opportunities: There are many opportunities to donate items for community service hours. NHS members cannot count more than 5 hours for any one project and no more than 10 hours total in donations toward the required 25 hours.
