What is an A&S Fair?

An Arts & Sciences Fair is a form of competition wherein you may display your work and receive scoring and commentary from skilled peers (some of whom might be Peers). 

Do I have to compete?

Our Fair will also invite you to display without competing, and give you the opportunity to receive the level of critique you desire through signage. We want to uplift our arts and sciences community of all levels, and show off the range of creative work in the Midlands!

What types of displays are permitted?

Any category of display is welcome, but it must fit into a 3-6 foot space indoors and not produce harmful by-products. For example, your display of completed pewter pilgrim's badges are very welcome, but we would appreciate it is your left the carving of soapstone and butane torches at home.

What is not permitted?

The site is dry, and any beverages served must be .5% or less alcohol per volume. Brewed beverages must not exceed this alcohol content. If your display contains adult materials (depictions of realistic violence or sexual acts), please have them censored or available on request instead of plainly displayed. For example, if you have a portfolio of illuminations, some of which include the nuns picking ripened penises off a tree, leave the portfolio open to not that image and include a tab saying "adult content beyond this point."

Do I have to stay at my display all day?

Scoring will be scheduled, and "lightning talks" will be set up as specific hours, so you are not specifically chained to your display all day. You will be able to participate in the rest of the event.
