Here you can find some examples of the activities I have been doing over the years:
“Extrasolar systems”. Training for high school teachers in Córdoba, Argentina. I performed an exhibition talk and produced audio-visual material and some experiments for the professors to teach to their students.
“The right to the night sky” is a university outreach project. It is a teaching and learning project about astronomy in which a group of professionals from different disciplines went to juvenile prisons to teach astronomy. “The right to see the sky” (C. Charalambous et al., 2018) is a publication about this experience in Revista Ext., an outreach magazine from Córdoba National University. A link to the website of the project can be found here.
“Understanding the configuration of observed exoplanets”. I was an invited speaker at the 2nd edition of the Woman and Girls in Science at the University of Namur.
“Explorando Mundos Lejanos: Exoplanetas en el Universo y su Representación Cinematográfica”. I was invited to give a talk to the general public in the context of the XVII LARIM, the Latin American Regional IAU Meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay.
As part of my outreach and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in science, I co-authored an Opinion Letter in Photonics Focus together with Lorena Ballesteros Ferraz, Sebastién Mouchet, and Riccardo Muolo “What can PhD students and postdocs do to counter inequalities?”. In this piece, we reflect on our experiences as early-career researchers and suggest concrete actions individuals can take to help build a more inclusive academic environment.
Driven by my passion for astronomy education and public engagement, I was part of the team behind Siguiendo la Cruz del Sur (Following the Southern Cross), an outreach project funded by the International Astronomical Union’s Office of Astronomy for Development. Through visits to rural schools across the Aysén Region in southern Chile, we shared astronomy with more than 700 students, promoting scientific curiosity and helping bring science opportunities to communities with limited access to outreach activities. As an all-women team, we also sought to provide visible role models for young students, encouraging girls to see themselves in scientific careers and contributing, in our own way, to reducing gender gaps in STEM.
