Gainesville Girls Rock Camp: Co-Founded GGRC, a 501c3 non-profit organization that uses music and performance to encourage self-esteem and creative self-expression in girls and trans and non-binary youth. Served as director from 2013-2020 managing 3 staff members and over 60 volunteers; an annual budget of over $10,000, special events coordination and exhibitions, promotion, marketing, grant writing, fundraising campaigns; volunteer recruitment and training, designing and implementing art, music, and creativity-focused youth curricula; and community capacity building through community partnerships. Folk Cultural Preservation: Organize, help instruct, and perform contradances & traditional Irish sessions around central Florida. Founding participant in the monthly Gainesville sea chantey sing, participate in regional shape note sings, and have volunteered, performed, and taught workshops at several folk and cultural heritage festivals including the Florida Folk Festival, The Gamble Rogers Festival, The Florida Earth Skills Gathering, Springfest, and Magnolia Fest. Festival & Special Event Organizing:
Founded DIY Fest which celebrated knowledge sharing and alternative education. DIY Fest was attended by around 200 individuals from around the state
Founded Riverine Reunion which highlights Florida nature and the north Florida folk music scene. Attracts 200+ attendees, 20+ bands, 30+ volunteers. Includes a weekend of workshops, skill-shares, bands, and performances.
Co-founded the “Gainesville Runaround,” a widely circulated community events calendar, and “The Runaround Hotline,” a community events hotline that could be called to access the times and locations of community events. Click the image above to learn about Riverine Reunion, established in 2018.
Community Radio: Organized and hosted a weekly theme-based music show, "A Notch In My Pistol," for the community volunteer-run radio station, Grow Radio. Designed playlists and programming, researched source recordings, promoted community announcements, and ran a soundboard. Click the icon to hear archived playlists.
Performance: Participated in numerous theatrical and musical performances over the years, including Changeville (2017; 2018), The High Nooners (2017; 2018), Jill’s Inferno (2015), The Many Furs Puppet Troupe (2012-2014), The Very Queer Variety Show (March 2011; 2012; 2013; 2014), “Felling Time with Thunderclock” at UF Digital Worlds Institute (2013), & Lady’s Band Roulette (2013). I am a multi-instrumentalist and have performed and recorded on more than 8 instruments with a variety of bands. From 2007 to the present, I’ve recorded 7 albums, performed hundreds of concerts, benefits, and tours domestically and abroad using music to raise thousands of dollars to benefit organizations with funds that serve community resources.
